Why does it seem that it is acceptable to bash Christians on here but not Atheists?
I've only been on here for a week or 2, and I'm just asking this because I've only seen a lot of angry insults being thrown at Christians, but not many thrown at Atheists.

Asking for justification is not bashing. It feels like bashing because Christians are left feeling stupid but that is self inflicted by having unjustified beliefs in the first place. Christians are constantly telling us that we are going to hell. That would probably be distressing if it wasn't such a soppy and paradoxical notion.

It's not so much acceptable, it's more just common place. In this day and age, it was quite the opposite really. It was common for theist to go after or bash atheist regularly, if not kill them outright.
BUT now, science is prevailing, people are reading more, and even further, common sense is taking more hold than it has ever been.
It also doesn't help that theist really do not have much to say as where bashing goes. It's somewhat like a bible verse an encyclopedia. Ones filled with facts and knowledge, whereas the other will be filled with spiritual advice and possible wisdom; consequently no facts.
Every religion throughout history has began, and died out. egypt/greece/rome(multiple gods) to which later became one god. and then you have christianity, and another such as muslim faith. probably 200, to 1000 years later, christianity will die out very much like the other religions and people will be discussing the spaghetti monster as a new possible god in years to come if not some random religion.

:) There are people bashing away in both camps, but there are also people in each camp who do not bash. Keep looking with an open mind and you will see plenty of insulting and/or angry comments by Christians. (Sometimes, if we are not on the receiving end of the insult, we don't notice the insult. Humans are more sensitized to insults toward their own "group".)

I have a theory that everyone here is equally bashed. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Atheist alike are bashed.
Sikhs and Jains might not be bashed as much.

well some theists on here seem to want to send nasty emails instead of 'bashing' atheists on here, i usually get a few emails after leaving a sarcastic remark, i haven't really 'bashed' anyone, it's just my sense of humor
Edit:
@Katherine Weber all gods are unfalsifiable hypothesis, meaning they can not be proven false or true, it would be like me saying there is an invisible unicorn in my closet that disappears when you open the door, prove me false

It is not acceptable to bash anyone. You can disagree, of course, and state your opinions and beliefs as positively as you like. But leave out the personal insults.

It's also hard to bash people for not believing in unfounded superstitions. Perhaps a better question would be: Why don't we make fun of the ancient Greek's and Roman's for their ridiculous religion? Oh wait, we do. But all that stuff about the talking snake.... that really happened.... oh and as I just spoke in church, according to your beliefs I should be stoned to death. Oh but I'm sure you don't believe in that part, just the parts you like. And of course everything else in it isn't to be taken literally, because for 99% of the time the bible has been in existence you would suffer a horrible death for admitting that. Congratulations on proving yourself as superstitious as your grandfather.
And who thinks Christianity hasn't be proven false. There was no Jesus Christ, no historical mention of him anywhere. Not to mention- just because you cannot prove or disprove something does not mean that both possibilities are equally probable. In fact it's quite clear that the odds are considerably against God's favor.
