Should the Sharks look into Sheldon Souray?

The Oilers don't want him, they wouldn't even assign him to their own minor team . . . Should the Sharks look into making some sort of deal to pick him up off of waivers? They would only need to pay half of his salary. The Oilers would be looking for something in return, but I'm sure we could offer them a prospect and be done with it. Or maybe just tell them that we would take him off their hands. The Sharks need more depth in their D. If I have to watch Niclas Wallin continue to log so many minutes I'm going to lose it! The guy drives me nuts!

Update:

Souray broke his hand, again, it was a couple weeks ago, he should be back any day. . . .

As sad as it is to say, the Oilers may have effectively ended Souray's career by offering him too much money. He would be worth this much in Edmonton if he is healthy and on-board for the team, but he is definitely not worth this much money to other teams contending for the playoffs. He is a poster-boy at best, and will get people into arenas for games and skills competitions, but will lose teams games.

Souray is a defensive liability who cannot make intelligent breakout passes consistently. His powerplay 'output' does not make up for his defensive shortcomings.

As an Oiler fan, I am happier to see him gone than here. Wonder why no one else is picking him up?

First, it would only count for half salary if Souray was claimed on re-entry waivers, not waivers. Second, whether its waivers or re-entry waivers, the Oilers would get nothing in return, it is not a trade.

Sadly, I don't think the Sharks have the cap space even at half the salary for Souray.

Souray recently broke his hand, don't know the severity, but I don't think he will be playing in the near future.
