Do you think Waterboarding is an effective military tactic?
Or do you believe it is inhumane?
I think we all agree it is a form of torture, but do you think it is necessary to get information from terrorists who might want to harm our country or people; or do you think it is going over the line and no human should be treated that way? Please give details about why you feel one way or another. Thanks!

... Marines used to sit on the edge of beaches while the ocean washed over their heads for hours at a time... If we can do that to our own soldiers for fun then why not do it to terrorist for important Military information?

Not in the least. Torture is a terrible way to get information, because your victim will say anything to get the torture to stop. Specifically, he will say what he thinks the torturer wants to hear. I could get you to confess to being a member of al-Qaeda in under fifteen minutes, and then name your friends and family members as co-conspirators. Don't believe me? There's this trick where we take a hand-cranked field telephone, and attach one set of wires to your genitalia and the other set to your teeth. Crank the phone. How long would you last before you were begging to tell me anything I wanted to hear? Waterboarding is the same thing.
Good intelligence require interrogators who use psychology to get inside a prisoner and trick him into revealing details without his even knowing he's done it. One of my friends teaches interrogation tactics. He once bet me he got get me to tell him my mother's maiden name in under ten minutes. There was no stress, no threat, and I knew exactly what information he was after. It took him six minutes before I mentioned my grandfather's service in WWII, and called him by his rank and last name.
Torture is pointless, and beneath us as a nation.

If you support waterboarding, just admit it...you support torturing your enemies because that is exactly what water boarding is.

I believe nobody should be hugged by a man with a live bomb strapped to his chest. If waterboarding enemy combatants prevents this, then it is justified.
