why are so many people afraid of the word 'processed' (food)?

humans "process" their food from the time they pick or pull it from nature - - they wash it - they skin it - they chop it up - they - boil - fry - roast- bake ? ? in order NOT to waste gods resource they continue to process what they can preserve - -

I don't get it ! !

the mass Industries only save earths products (to prevent the waste)

what truly difference is milk from the udder or the dehydrated form used in all packaged mixes

- - - - government intervention because of money regulation

    yes, technically all food is processed. usually though, whenever someone refers to food as processed, they mean over-processed. Especially when eating a product that contains meat that is ground up, people can never be exactly sure what is in it.

    Processed is usually used to describe the food that has had extensive 'tampering with', if you will. Processed foods more often then not are said to be such because they contain extra sugars, fats, and other unhealthy additives, rather than just being organic.

    Wow, you need to get an education. While people tend to think of processed foods as being bad, it turns out that many processed foods are not unhealthy. Milk is considered a processed food because it is pasteurized to kill bacteria and homogenized to keep fats from separating. White sugar, canned anchovies, and frozen vegetables are healthy processed foods too. While fresh may be best, freezing vegetables preserves vitamins and minerals and makes them convenient to cook and eat all year around.

    However, more than 90 percent of processed foods ARE unhealthy. Many processed foods are made with trans fats, saturated fats, and large amounts of sodium and sugar. These types of foods should be avoided, or at least eaten in limited servings. Example like:

    * canned foods with lots of sodium

    * white breads and pastas made with refined white flour, which are not as healthy as those made with whole grains

    * packaged high-calorie snack foods, like chips and cheese snacks

    * high-fat convenience foods, like cans of ravioli

    * frozen fish sticks and frozen dinners

    * packaged cakes and cookies

    * boxed meal mixes

    * sugary breakfast cereals

    * processed meats

    Processed meats might be some of the worst of these foods. Eating these meats may increase your risk of colorectal, kidney and stomach cancer. Processed meats include hot dogs, bologna, sausage, ham and other packaged lunch meats.

    The problem isn't with preserved (frozen or canned) foods, it is with things like twinkies which have a high fat and sugar content without providing much in the way or nutrition.
