baby eats string and toilet paper, is this normal?

Different textures. Babies love the taste and feel of different things on their tongue plus they just have the desire to always be putting things in there mouth in general. Just shut the bathroom door behind you and try to keep strings up b/c they could strangle themselves within a few seconds if you aren't careful. also don't mention Choke. I'm sure you are watching him/her.... It's a totally normal thing for babies!

ALSO.... Don't mind these parents who think "O all you have to do is keep it out of reach" That's common sense. well i have 2 children right now and a full time career working from home... I know what it's like especially when i'm making lunch and my 5 yr old comes out of the bathroom and says "Mommy, Leah unrolled the toilet paper" I ask him why he didn't shut the door behind him. "I dunno". so you see **** HAPPENS.

It's called PICA.Maybe low iron? Babies w low iron eat strange things. Also those w high lead levels eat odd and icky things. Put everything out of reach before the baby chokes. Watch that baby closely! If this is a phase it's 1 thing but a medical condition needs to be ruled out and a trip to the doctors asap.

It's not normal, it needs to be investigated.

I dont think mentally challenged babies eat toilet paper and string....because their parents probably keep those types of things away from them....I think parents with children who are not should do the same thing.....JUST KEEP IT OUT OF THE BABYS REACH!!!!

keep string & toilet paper on a counter or shelf out of the babe's reach.
