Internet connection problem..........?
I am facing a strang problem in my pc, few days ago there was a fake antivirus software alert popping up window saying that the computer has a virus. Initially I couldn get ride of the notices, my computer doesn't have a virus. when I tried to open any file, it said this file is infected, purchase now or stay unsafe!! When I hit ok it couldn't even brought me to a website to ask me to purchase, because when my internet browser opens immediately another notice stating that file "safari has been infected......." however I opened the controlpanel and creat a new user account, every thing was fine there, I downloded a malwarebyte and scan the pc and removed that fake alert. Now problem is that in my old account there is no internet connection, I am using three web browser internet explorer, safari and mozilla firefox. safari can't open the page, internet explorer doesn't even open. but surprisingly firefox is working perfectly. yahoo messenger is not working. in my new profile every browsers are working though net is slow. I am comfused someone pliz help me.

Can I assume you are using Windows? This sounds like a common virus as of late.
You will need to reboot your computer into Safe-mode with networking. When you start up, watch for a notice saying something along the lines of 'Press F8 for startup menu' -It may be a different Function button.
Open IE, & change the connection settings to ensure it is Not trying to use a proxy.
This will allow you to access the internet properly again. Then Google 'Antivirus 2010 virus removal'
A site such as http://www.virusremovalguru.com/?p=715 should be helpful for you to remove the virus, including the infected processes & files.

I would stop using IE. Compared to Firefox and Chrome, oh heck just about any other browser for that matter, IE is the least safe of them all.
Always remember what antivirus software you use, if something pops up and it's not from your antivirus program, do NOT click on it. Close it and leave the site you were at when it popped up.

Wow. When that happened to my old computer it ended in the blue screen of Death. Before that my computer's internet connection was really laggy. The virus has an effect on your internet that is pretty much irreversible.

You got hit with a fake anti virus program. Which actual AV program are you using? If you're using one, is it constantly updated. If you don't have one, find one & install it. If it won't install, you probably will need to do a reinstall of Windows.

IE options effect safari & yahoo messenger but not Firefox.
Check your IE Proxy server Setting and let to no Proxy.
