just wondering because some lady in line at the store said:
darn, i have a run up my stocking!
i asked if i could catch it,

That's why when wearing those stockings I carry in my bag a transparent nail polish to stop them from running all the way up /// hey they run up or down sometimes all the way long on legs!

They usually run up because the nylon fabric gets stretched tighter as it goes higher up on the leg (the leg is getting larger). As the fiber below breaks, it puts more tension on the fiber above until it breaks, and this just repeats... each fiber above has more tension on it than the one below, because the leg is a bit larger there.

they dont always run up. sometimes they run down. (they never run horizontally though)
when they do run upwards, they go to some place mid or high thigh(not quite to your hip)

well they sometimes run all the way up or down but they also get wider
