Good films with astronomy content?

Hey guys I have an astronomy assignment where I have to watch a movie and I was looking for suggestions on a film I should watch.

Here is the assignment:

Give a brief critical analysis of a major film (not made for TV) which had significant astronomical content.

Update:

In regards to John R's comment: All I am asking is for suggestions on films that I could watch. I am not asking for someone to do the assignment for me..if that's what you are thinking.

Update 2:

also don't we rely on answers from others throughout life? If you go to a surf shop looking for your first surfboard, you could grab a random surfboard that is wrong for you, or you could ask someone for a suggestion or answer on which board would be right for you. Surfing may not apply to this situation, but you could add any other thing or situation and still come up with the same outcome.

I am asking people in the astronomy section because who else would know the stuff better than the people who enjoy astronomy?

Let me add my vote with the others for "Contact" -- it was written by Carl Sagan, an astronomer.

Both "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon" have astronomy-related bits near the beginning, but quickly devolve into other things.

    Two immediately come to mind:

    2001: A Space Odyssey

    Contact

Source(s): Two of my favourite films.
