Why do Adam & Eve have navels?
In all the classical paintings depicting Adam and Eve that I have seen, they both have navels which would denote a mother. Even classical artists must have realised that you only get a navel from your mother. Surely by painting Adam and Eve with navels, the artists must have had doubts about their origins. Can anyone point me towards a painting that does not depict Adam and Eve with navels? Could it be that the great artists in history were in fact closet Atheists and this was their way of rebelling against the religion of their time?

Picture -
noun
1. a visual representation of a person, object, or scene, as a painting, drawing, photograph, etc.: I carry a picture of my grandchild in my wallet. - Dictionary.com
@ Dr Bob - Not sure about your's but mine was caused by the severing of my umbilical cord from my mother. This was then knotted off and became my navel. Navel denotes a mother. I don't think there is a navel gene but I could be wrong.
@BUBS - No, it is a bit of fun in an all too serious Q&A area. I got in from work and was unwinding before I went to bed and whilst contemplating my navel I wondered if anyone had contemplated theirs? I'm just amazed that none of the classical artists had thought about this.

It is an artistic interpretation of what the artist thought Adam and Eve looked like. IT IS NOT A PICTURE.

In the field of human genetics, Mitochondrial Eve refers to the most recent common matrilineal ancestor from whom all living humans are descended. Passed down from mother to offspring, all mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in every living person is directly descended from hers. Mitochondrial Eve is the female counterpart of Y-chromosomal Adam, the patrilineal most recent common ancestor, although they lived thousands of years apart.
Mitochondrial Eve is generally estimated to have lived around 200,000 years ago, most likely in East Africa, when Homo sapiens sapiens were developing as a species separate from other human species.
In human genetics, Y-chromosomal Adam (Y-MRCA) is the theoretical most recent common ancestor (MRCA) from whom all living people are descended patrilineally (tracing back along the paternal lines of their family tree only). Y-chromosomal Adam probably lived between 90,000 and 60,000 years ago in the African continent and is the male counterpart of Mitochondrial Eve,

Adam and Eve must've had navels.
Even if they were created by God (and I believe they were) they had a genetic makeup that they were able to pass on to the next generation. That genetic makeup had to include, by necessity, the genetic code for a navel. Thus, they must've had them, too.
