computer help: hard drive missing?
what does this mean? hard drive not found missing hard drive it just showed up on my computer and i have no idea what it means

Could mean several different things. Firstly, is there a USB device plugged into the machine (hard drive, CD drive, flash drive, etc)? If so, the BIOS may be looking there for a boot device and not finding it. Detach all peripherals and reboot. Or, it could mean that your hard drive has failed :( Or, someone has monkeyed around with the BIOS and changed the settings. Or, it could be that a cable has come loose from the hard drive or the system board. Does the computer "beep" at all when you start it up? If so, count the beeps and do a search for the BIOS beep codes for your specific brand of system board.

Could be just about any reason you could come up with. 1. Installed games 2. Lots of Music files 3. Lots of Video Files 4. Lots of pictures and images. 5. A lot of restore points created, which are appended to the original, seeing this at 1GB and bigger isn't unusual, but probably not necessary. 6. Window Updates that leaves the install files on the hard drive. 7. Uninstall Microsoft works. 8. Open control panel and add/remove and see what is using a lot of disk space that you don't use or need. Running disk cleanup from menu,accessories,system and checking all the boxes will get rid of a lot of junk and useless files. If you are not satisfied with the answers, reinstall the operating system to gain it all back or buy a larger hard drive.

Well, it could mean your hard drive is either missing, broken, not connected correctly, or is dead. open up your pc and see if the hard drive is there first. Reconnect all the connectors that go from your hard drive to your motherboard, it can be one or two wires. If its not, you have to buy another one, and (if you dont have it, youll need another install disc of your operating system, Windows or Mac most likely). If it is there, it may be dead, in which case you would have to do the same thing. Consult with a tech support in your area, then make a decision based on that, it seems to be the best way to go.

open you computer and check if the hard drive is plugged/connected with the computer. If that doesn't help go and try to do disk defragment...or it might have broken/ or burned
