The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression in the decade preceding World War II.The depression originated in the U.S., starting with the fall in stock prices that began around September 4, 1929 and became worldwide news with the stock market crash of October 29, 1929 (known as Black Tuesday). In the U.S., unemployment rose to 25%, personal income, tax revenue, profits and prices dropped while international trade plunged. In Europe, demand for traditional industrial products collapsed. By the end of 1930 unemployment had more than doubled from 1 million to 2.5 million (20% of the insured workforce), and exports had fallen in value by 50%.
Germany's Weimar Republic was hit hard by the depression, as American loans to help rebuild the German economy now stopped.Unemployment soared, especially in larger cities, and the political system veered toward extremism. The unemployment rate reached nearly 30% in 1932.Repayment of the war reparations due by Germany were suspended in 1932 following the Lausanne Conference of 1932. By that time, Germany had repaid ⅛ of the reparations. Hitler's Nazi Party came to power in January 1933.
The Japanese economy shrank by 8% during 1929–31.Japanese textiles began to displace British textiles in export markets.By 1933, Japan was already out of the depression.

OMG!!! We did an entire unit on this and I was in the school's production of "Annie" this year (it's middle school, stop laughing)! But anyway there was this whole song about the President at the time, Herbert Hoover, about how much we hated living in a Hooverville, which was fun playing a hobo! But anyway, say stuff about how they lived in shanties (huts) and how some people, to "escape" the Depression went out west in search of jobs, but were already taken up by the people who got there first. OH!, and also put something in there about the dust bowl, which didn't help people at all during this time. Hope this helps a bit!

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..
But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

It was a period of time when a lot of people felt really depressed. It was caused by the world still being in balck & white., with a lot of crappy looking cars and no computers or cell phones. Later, when color was invented and things got more modern, the depression cleared up..
