DIY headset impedance change?
I have a number of H10-76 military headsets laying around and would like to convert them for GA on the cheap. I'm quite aware of the kits available, and have bought the cable/mic kit before. My problem arises with some radio and passenger headset combination that result in very low headset volume. I know this is from the speakers being low impedance.
So, has anyone remedied this problem themselves without resorting to buying new speakers for way too much money? Like in line resistors to raise the impedance ohms?

An in-line resistor will reduce the signal level to the earphones even further. The resistor may present a better load impedance to the amp, but will send less signal to the phone. If you can get ahold of a matching transformer, it would provide the best solution. It would need to match the radio's output impedance (about 8 ohms) to the earphone's impedance (about 2,000 ohms). Even with a good match, you may find the volume too low; these earphones were not particularly efficient.
