Why don't they play the lotto live on TV anymore?
I've noticed on the local tv channels they never show the live lottery picks. Even the 1.5b powerball picks weren't played. Specifically that machine with the air and the balls flying around. The lady would pull on the slide and a numbered ball would fly up into the chute. Why don't they broadcast this anymore?
2 AnswersGambling5 years agoWhy is the military permitted to violate the 5th amendment of its members (double jeopardy)?
In some cases when a service member is charged by a civilian court with DWI, they are simultaneously charged under the military UCMJ with something like Article 111 (DWI). They also often incur charges like Article 92, Failure to obey a lawful order, but let us focus on 111 as it is essentially the same charge as DWI. I assume that non-judicial Article 15 punishment is non applicable to this concept, so let us focus on the special and general court martial only.
It's possible for a service member to be convicted and receive sentence from a civilian court for DWI, and then also receive additional sentence from a UCMJ court martial for DWI. Two sets of coinciding sentences for the same offense. One doesn't override the other, they both must be served.
I'm aware of the "differing jurisdictions" loophole that allows this occur. I just want someone to rationally explain why no justice has ever ruled this unconstitutional? From a spirit of the law standpoint, it seems blatantly wrong.
I'm not a lawyer, but I saw this happen several times during my service and always wondered why it was permitted.

Received a set of kitchen knives, and I have no idea what this one is or what it's for. It's like a small sword.
1 AnswerCooking & Recipes7 years agoDurian didn't smell bad at all?
So I just ate my first durian fruit. I was expecting the legendary death smell I've heard so much about, but there was none of that. It had a very mild ripe fruit smell, unique but somewhat like mango and papaya. I bought it frozen from the local asian mart. Regarding ripeness, the fruit part surrounding the seeds was very custardy and not firm, from all I've read that would mean it was not too terribly green.
For anyone wondering, the taste was quite interesting... banana, onion, mango, papaya... all mixed together, not the most appetizing texture but I found the taste was good.
So do some durian just not smell bad? I feel like I was cheated!
4 AnswersEthnic Cuisine9 years agoDIY headset impedance change?
I have a number of H10-76 military headsets laying around and would like to convert them for GA on the cheap. I'm quite aware of the kits available, and have bought the cable/mic kit before. My problem arises with some radio and passenger headset combination that result in very low headset volume. I know this is from the speakers being low impedance.
So, has anyone remedied this problem themselves without resorting to buying new speakers for way too much money? Like in line resistors to raise the impedance ohms?
1 AnswerAircraft1 decade agoRedirecting Pre-paid postage?
We all get junk mail. Especially credit card offers. Many of these come with return envelopes that are pre-paid postage.
The question is: Can I slap on my own "Send To" address over the envelope window and send it through the mail for free?
Please only respond if you know what you're talking about. I don't need any, "omg no thats illegal."
Thanks!
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow do you feel about the makeup of the Supreme Court?
The Supreme Court's current demographics:
Catholic: 77% of the Supreme Court
Jewish: 33% of the Supreme Court
Protestant: 0% of the Supreme Court***
***Stevens is the only Protestant but is scheduled to step down and be replaced by Kagan (Jew). For the sake of argument we'll assume she is approved.
Demographic of the US by Religion:
Protestants: 51.3%
Roman Catholic: 23.9%
Jewish: 1.7%
In simple terms the Supreme Court interprets the Constitution as it applies to legal cases brought before them. Their ruling overrides any lesser courts.
So what do you think of the ridiculous misrepresentation of the American public in the Supreme Court? Why does half of the population have NO representation? Why do Jews who make up less than 2% of the population hold 3 seats?
For those who will say it doesn't matter what or who they are seeing as how they aren't directly elected by the electorate. I say it does matter. As anyone with the ambition to make such political connections as to place them in a position to be nominated, definitely has an agenda. In my opinion their life experiences (religion plays a part), and agenda will directly effect how they interpret the Constitution. You can't escape that as it is human nature, however you can have like minded people representing the majority of the population, which we lack.

In the Broadview security commercials why are the bad guys always white men?
According to Department of Justice violent crimes statistics by race: Blacks are 9 times more likely to commit a violent crime than White. Hispanics are roughly 5 times more likely to commit violent crimes than White.
I am thinking of purchasing Broadviews service, but if they can't even represent reality, how likely is it that they are competent in their work?
