How to get puppy to leave older dog alone.?
I have a 5 year old Siberian Husky (Blaze), and recently got a new puppy, he is Chesapeake Bay Retriever (Diesel).. and he is about 4 months old.
They are getting along very well except for the fact Diesel will not leave Blaze alone.. EVER. He is constantly pestering Blaze, and Blaze won't do anything about it, he just lays there and takes it.. or sometimes tries to walk away, but Diesel just chases after him. I pull Diesel off of him and tell him to leave Blaze alone, but 5 seconds later Diesel is charging at him again..
What can I do to get Diesel to leave Blaze alone????
Diesel is not being nasty at all.. he is just trying to play, but he tends to be a little overbearing.
I understand that he wants to play.. and it really does not annoy me that bad, it is just the fact the Diesel will do this 24/7 if he was able to. I can tell Blaze is getting stressed.

Leave him alone. He's a puppy and he's acting like a normal puppy. If your husky's tired of his antics, she needs to be the one to tune him in. Dogs work things out for themselves best if there's no human interference (unless the adult dog's aggressive).

Nordics don't mind the craziness of puppies. They were all once there. In fact, if Blaze was annoyed he'll show Diesel he means business. Other than that it sounds like you're the one that is annoyed. So to help yourself out you have to teach him the command: "Leave it".

AWW! your puppy sounds like he is having a 6 year old play time! haha BLAZE will figure out the puppy is playing. The reason Blaze isn't doing anything about it is because Blaze caxn speak body dog language. When smaller dogs usually puppies play like that other dogs will eventually figure out that the puppy is going through the puppy montage like a 6 year old going through a 6 year old time. When ur older you become more mellow.

put both your dogs on lead and require each to lie down in a respective corner. Your puppy is certainly old enough to down stay.
And, get a crate set up in the house - put one dog in it for a couple hours as a time out. Rotate them.
Or, wait until your old dog finally has enough and tells the puppy - his correction will likely far less polite.

Give the 4 month old one more attention or take him for a medium walk. Actually, no. Not yet. The older one is jealous because the younger one gets more of the attention now. Anyway, right. That will happen until one learns how the other lives and what they mean and want.
