How much Boric Acid is needed to kill one roach? Do they have to be fully coverd or just a tiny bit on them?

Does the roach have to be covered in the Boric Acid for it to be effective, or what if just a tiny little pin head amount gets on they're leg or something? Will it spread? I'm dusting almost everything in my home. (as well as Cleaning with an OCD passion) I havn't gone to sleep yet, its 8;18am. Im terrified they will crawl on me while im asleep. There pretty bad. i cant go an hour without seeing at least 2 or 3 of them :(

and please don't suggest a Exterminator. I would LOVE to call them but I have no money.

it needs to be placed out very lightly, like when dust builds up on top of the TV when you don't dust for a coupling of weeks...roaches have tiny hairs on their bodies that the dust attaches to, then when they groom themselves they will die in a couple of days from the stomach poison (not dessication) If you are dealing with the smaller German roaches a better remedy is to get the bait that comes in the large syringe, you can place this gel next to where the roaches are living, you can't do this with boric acid and you have to wait for them to just wander into the dust, If it is the large outdoor roaches you are seeing, a product like Ortho Home Defense will be inviible and will kill roaches rather quickly, once again unlike boric acid powder

Yes, it does this because the roach eats the boric acid and it supposedly explodes the stomach - but whether or not that is how it works, it works. You can buy 20 Mule Team laundry detergent, scatter it arund the edges of the room and on the window ledges, eventually the roach will find it and eat it - usually within a day or so. Also, you can fill a spray bottle with 1/4 liquid detergent, 3/4 water and spray on roach. Roaches breath through their bodies and this will effectively stop them breathing by spraying with this solution. and they will die. What type of roach is important, if it is the little ones with stripes (sometimes called German roaches) where there is one there are gazillions - get an exterminator that is the only way to get rid of that infestation. If this is a medium to large roach the boric acid will work fine or the soapy spray. Be careful if you have pets they will walk through the boric acid and then lick themselves and could get sick. It goes without saying it should not be around babies or young children who are playing, crawling on the floor.

A tiny bit needs to be used.

Very lightly and slowly put it in something. Where you saw the roach and where it left its droppings.

The roach will get it on its legs and carry it to where it hides. The boric acid will dry it out. When it eats it it will kill it.

Source(s): We keep boric acid powder out for roaches that decide to come in from outside.
