What is your favorite green smoothie recipe?

I am trying to get more creative with my blender LOL. Right now I am loving dandelion green smoothies.

1/2 pound dandy greens

1 large banana

5 or so strawberries

My other all time favorite is

1/2 lb spinach

1 banana

1 orange

I want to start adding things like flax seeds or almond butter so I can make a complete meal this way. Do you have any ideas?

Update:

Aww...thanks so much Shining Sun :))

Your ideas are awesome! I have some carob powder that has been sitting in the cabinet for awhile and I think it is pretty similar to cocoa powder so I am going to try that in one :) You gave me some great ideas. Thank you!!!

Update 2:

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your answer! That is interesting what you say about mixing my green smoothies with bananas...it makes sense too...do you think it could cause pimples if you aren't combining foods that 'resonate' with one another well??

Just curious :)

I love green smoothies :) I've been living on them for the last two weeks, both savoury and sweet ones. I've been adding soaked cashews to spinach and banana. Sometimes I throw some cocoa powder in on top (organic, and dark). I like adding hemp or flax as well.

For the savoury ones, it's been based around things like spinach and kale with a splash of water, and adding other veg like mushrooms, baby turnips, tomatoes, peppers, etc.

I think with the green base, adding any type of soaked seeds and nuts and/or sprouts has got to be good protein. You can take it from there.

    Edit: You're welcome :) Enjoy!

Its great that you love eating/drinking healthy stuff! Its not a good idea to be adding a banana. Dandelions and strawberries are similar (low growing plant, similar leaves, the seeds of the plant grow at the top of the plant). So they might mix chemically. But bananas grow on tall trees in a large pod that hangs. A general rule of thumb is that plants don't mix unless they are similar. Keep the roots with the roots (carrots and beets), the melons with the melons (cantaloupe and honeydew) and so on. This is because you want to keep things with different pH, nutrients and other chemicals at least 15 mins part when eating. Your smoothies are on the simple side as it is so its nothing too serious. Many people get carried away with mixing things that don't mix. So my advice is actually don't add anything, if anything make it more simple so it doesn't end up damaging your body.

I usually add tofu to my smoothies to give them more protein. Or protein power if you can find some good unflavoured stuff that you like. But I usually start with fruit and veggies, then add some yogurt or tofu, and some juice. Sometimes I add oats or bran for fibre too.
