There were so many brilliant groups and singers about during the sixties - The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Hollies, Dusty Springfield, Sandie Shaw to name just a few.

I couldn't possibly decide just one singer. I used to look forward to Top Of The Pops because every group/singer on it was somebody famous.

An excellent question with so many wonderful answers.

Let me throw three more into the mix.

Jackie Wilson:There was not one style of music this man could not perform.

Gene Pitney:Seems like every other top ten hit in the 60's had his stamp on it.

Jay Black of Jay & The Americans: The most powerful voice in the 60's.Remember "Cara Mia?"

Roy Orbison was one of my favourites. Such an unbelievable range to his voice, yet had a tragic life.

There were so many in the 60's that it's really hard to choose. Today's singers have all the trappings to keep their voice in tune, which wasn't available then. I also liked the Searchers, Everley Brothers, Elvis, Buddy Holly, and many more.

Stevie Wonder in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and noughties. Amazing artist and I saw him live in Manchester this year x

I was in grade school in the early to mid-sixties. This is why my choice is Julie Andrews. In !964, it was Mary Poppins songs. In 1965, it was the songs from The Sound of Music! Yep, she wins hands down with me.

Way back in the 50's and spilling over into the 60's one Brit songster always stood out, especially to the millions of workers who used to listen while they worked...Donald Peers - In a shady Nook, by a Babbling Brook - he was instantly recognizable...

Vikki Carr. Real talent, pitch perfect tone and a great entertainer unlike the puerile modern crap that hides behind electronic technology to sound acceptable.
