Diaper Genie Elite...Cloth diapering?
Hi everyone! I am about to be a mom again after many years. With my first child, we used disposable diapers and the first type of diaper genie (all the twisting for a diaper sausage). Now with our next baby, we wish to cloth diaper and I was considering using the new Diaper Genie Elite. No twisting and individually wrapping each diaper, plus it's a one handed operation. The concept was that I would put the cloth diapers in, and when time to wash, empty the diapers in the washing machine instead of throwing the whole bag out. Has anyone else tried this method--using a diaper genie with cloth diapers? If so, did it work? If not, what went wrong? I am looking for the cons of actually trying this idea for convenience. Thanks

I agree with Shera - use a pail liner in a medium trash can with a locking lid. The lid keeps the smells out of the rest of your house and the pail liner is waterproof. You take the diapers, rinse them and throw them in the pail, keep the pail dry, do not use a wet pail (with water and soap in it, it is a drowning hazard). come wash time throw dirty diapers and pail liner in the washer and wash together. Much easier than a diaper genie and you are not wasting all those plastic bags.

I have NO idea if that would work. But with modern cloth diapers also comes these awesome waterproof bags made of PUL.....called wetbags. Some of them are big and called pail liners, or hanging pails. Others are small and used for cloth diapering outside of the house.

i really dont recommend doing that, when you use cloth diapers, its very important to wash them right away, you really dont want them to just be sitting in a pale of poop and urine for hours or days. diaper genies are meant for disposable diapers, it just wouldnt be sanitary to use them for cloth diapers.
