Does Dublin Airport have "full body scanners"?

I am flying from Dublin Airport to New York JFK next month. Does Dublin Airport have the new scanners that can see you naked? I really don't want to go through them and don't like the idea of having the intimate pat-down. If I don't want to be molested will I have to go through the scanners? Also, do they scan you on arrival in JFK even if there are no scanners in Dublin?

Thanks.

It looks like they do but I am trying right now to find out as I am due to fly from Dublin too. TO those ill-informed who think that the only answer to airport security is to give you a higher risk in cancer of the skin, breasts and testicles, I suggest you think before you speak. There have been studies in Scandinavia, a very respected area of the world, and very advanced, which clearly indicate that airport body scanners increase your cancer risk A LOT. It's like 50 X-rays at the same time and like a full body (high) sunburn. SO, I do not care if they pat me down, I can strip down if they ask me to. But I do not want to increase the risk of skin or breast cancer just because radiating you is easiest. Moreover, it has been clear, by recent tests in Italy, that these cancer-creating machines cannot see weapons in certain areas of your body, so it's not even effective. Just because the UK (and Irish) government has rushed to implement them, it does not mean they are the best way to ensure security. In fact, Israel does not use full body scanning at all and they have the highest security at airports, and the highest risk. Infact, and I am quoting: Airplane passengers are statistically as likely to be killed by full-body scanner (later cancer development) as a terrorist's attack.

There are no such scanners at Dublin Airport at the moment. If the need arises to pat you down, a refusal to allow it will result in you being refused permission to proceed any further resulting in you missing your flight. The pat down is very non invasive and you will be in no way molested. Any such pat down will be carried by a trained security officer of the same sex as yourself. They carry out these searches hundreds of times every day and take no pleasure in doing so. They are a very professional group of people. In any case, these scanners do not "see you naked". They provide a picture which to all intents and purposes is an outline of your body which will show up any discrepancies such as items attached to your body.

On 21st January last, the news was

Dublin Airport Authority has put out a €2m tender for the controversial technology which is already being trialled in Britain.

I couldn't find any more recent news about them, so expect that they have not been installed yet. At JFK, they are understandably security conscious, and scanning is a distinct possibility, whether or not you were scanned at the start of your journey.

Residing in a broad bay, Dublin lies between Howth in the north and the headland of Dalkey to the south and the River Liffey split the city in two creating using this town an interesting city you will have the possibility with hotelbye to see it. Dublin has provided the planet such distinguished fictional like: Yeats, Beckett, Joyce, Shaw, and Wilde. Dublin was a UNESCO City of Literature in 2010 therefore is definitely an fascinating town to visit especially if you wish to visit Bewley's Oriental Café ;.Several would say that Bewley's Oriental Café is the jewel in the crown. Bewley's Oriental Café is an institution that has been integrated 1927.

They scan you, laugh at your wobbly bits and probe your **** just for the fun of it at Dublin and JFK.

Seriously the "pat down" is hardly intimate to be honest, they feel up your trouser legs and around your back and chest, this is over your clothes not underneath. Personally I've never given it a second thought?

I hope all countries have it. They're protecting you from a potential Terrorist attack. Think of it as they are doing their job. This is the ONLY way for the airports to thoroughly check out people who may have arms or bombs on their person. I am all for protection. I hope to NEVER be on a plane that is hijacked by a terrorist. May shot in the head, blown up etc. Nor would I ever want a loved one to endure that. I'll take the scanner and pat down. Get over it. Your life is in their hands once you stop onto that plane bro!

The final time I traveled became into final summer. The scanners i assume weren't put in yet. I somewhat on the fence in this one. On a flight from Amsterdam to the US. I felt quite uneasy. numerous center jap finding gents have been status with the aid of the door. i understand they have been probable status there to unlock their knees from sitting so long. i'm unsure if i could have felt extra useful understanding that they had long previous with the aid of a physique scanner. After our trip, a t.v. station had a piece on the hazards of flying. by way of fact of loss of protection and checking on each and all of the STUFF that is going below the airplane. I certainly have questions!!! a million. How plenty radiation are we uncovered to? 2. How do they test pregnant women persons and youngsters.? ( No way is everyone touching my youngster!!!) 3. What approximately human beings in wheelchairs and the wheelchairs themselves. ( you could conceal alot in a wheelchair, only look on the boarder from Calif to Mexico in vehicles. ). on the information the different day, a guy became into assume to board a flight. The TSA ( i assume ) became into patting the guy down, you would be able to desire to pay attention the guy say " do no longer touch my junk". He did no longer get on the airplane. I desire this government could hire the Israeli Airport protection, they're hard. they have been coping with terrorists plenty longer and stricter than the different united states. i'm completely apprehensive of heights and flying. i'm grounding myself until eventually extra suitable word. while the TSA pronounced final nighttime on the information. in case you do no longer struggle with the aid of our scanners, you do no longer fly. this is effective with me.
