Dog scraping back legs on carpet...?

We've just come back from a walk in the woods and my dog has gone very hyper and is scraping her back feet on the carpet. Its a little bit red in between her paws and we've just checked for thorns, etc but there's nothing in there that we can see. We've just soaked her feet in warm water to draw out anything, but why do dogs do this?

She could have walked in something she is allergic too. Soak her feet in warm water and epsom salts for 20 minutes, if she will let you. You can give her 25mg (1cap) for every 25lbs that she weights. You can do this every 4-6hours as needed.

If she has ever done this before, it's normal. My dog does it when she stretches, it's like an army crawl right? Using front legs while back legs are pointed out? Otherwise she may have been irritated by something in the woods, if that's the case she will get over it or give her a bath

she most likely stepped on something. I have holly trees outside and when one of my dogs step on the leaves you know it, they come over to me like pull it out on their other 3 legs...but my bully was bitten by something this year (we are in wooded area as well) and his entire face blew up with an allergic reaction..I would just keep an eye on your dog and keep checking that foot, if it stays red and especially if it starts to swell there maybe something you cant see stuck in between her pads and you will need to make a vet apt. or you can call your vet and explain the situation to them and ask if you should be doing anything else at this time to help the situation. They should tell ya what you can do unless they believe she really needs to be seen. hope i helped a lil.

It could be that something is stuck in her paws that you cannot see or she stepped on something that caused a chemical reaction that is causing an allergic response, however slight. You have examined her paws already so just clean it and then put a thin layer of petroleum jelly on it to protect it. Observe her paws for a few of days and if it shows any signs of infection, or if she starts limping or even stops walking on them, I would bring her to the vet right away. Good job observing your fur ball.

Experiencing the comparable undertaking on the instant. Had new carpet put in 2 weeks in the past and all our canine are super yet one, he's breaking out in terrible hives throughout his physique. as quickly as given Benadryll and removed from the area the hives go away. unsure if this could verify itself over the years or if we ought to have the recent carpet steam wiped sparkling..? Any suggestion?

Take her to a vet. She may have dry skin.
