Why does this keep happening?

In Apple Numbers '09 (included in iWork '09), I'm trying to enter in information for a book and page number in the format book/page# (i.e. 330/485), but the application keeps automatically dividing it like its a fraction. I DO NOT want this to happen. Any ideas on how to make it stop?

Either format as text or try the Excel fix - prefix with an apostophe ie '330/485

Custom formats are practically useless unless you know the number of pages you will ultimately have, even then you may end up with the reference looking like 025/458.

Format the cell as text to display exactly what you enter or create your own custom format.

Use the Format bar or Cell Format from the Cells inspector to do this.
