How many years between editions?
I have my great grandmother's cook book called The Boston Cooking School Cookbook. I know that it originally was published in 1896. I also know that I have the 7th edition. I haven't been able to locate any publisher information inside the book as far as copyrights or even who published it. In trying to date it, google searches aren't telling me much. Does anyone know if editions are possibly done on an annual basis in order to keep up with changes?
Thanks!

The time frame in between editions vary.
I searched WorldCat http://www.worldcat.org/
and found that the 10th ed. was published in 1959.

The Bartelby site (which includes the full text of the 1918 ed.) says they chose that edition because it was the last edited completely by Fannie Farmer. http://www.bartleby.com/87/
Here's a page from the Michigan State Univ Library digital collection which indicates that the 6th ed. was 1936 and the 8th ed. was published in 1946.

So there are a few clues. My guess would be that the 7th edition was published in 1940 or 1941 - probably before the U.S. got involved in WWII. If you'd like further assistance researching this, I would recommend contacting your local library.

Editions are done on an annual basis, could be from each year to each 10 to each 50 and so on... You get the point here, it is a wide range, the only way to tell is by checking the year between the one you have and a previous or newer version.
