What does auto liability insurance cover?
I'm confused. I have a cheap car (read: old, not worth $1,000, beat up) that I need insurance on. I'm not worried about paying for my car to get fixed if damaged.
However, I have a problem with "scraping" people's car. For example, I drove my car out of a parking lot and nearly bumped into another one, leaving maybe a scratch or dent. Would liability insurance cover that? Does it help pay for the OTHER car? 'Cause truth be told, my car's not worth paying insurance for ha ha.
VA's minimum is the 25/50/25, so that's my insurance policy.
Wish I could blame it on bad driving, but it's on depth perception. My diabetes are messing me eyesight up! (Which is true, actually) I don't distract myself while driving, haven't had my license for a year yet! :P I just have problems in the parking lot...

As an insurance broker I can tell you that liability insurance is about treating the well being of another person that might get hurt through your actions - accident where you hurt the other driver.
Any other claim- like any fender bender in a parking lot will be covered by that persons insurance, but if you caused it , your insurance company will add this claim to your record effectively increasing your premium for every accident.
Your vehicle is only covered if you purchased liability coverage, minus your deductible.

Yes, liability coverage should cover damages from hitting cars in parking lots if it's determined by the insurance to be your fault. Hitting a parked car is always your fault. You should always turn over any claims for damages to someone else's property to your insurance and never pay out of pocket.

Liability insurance covers damage and medical expenses that you inflict on others. In other words, if you are at fault in an accident, your liability will cover it. If the other person is at fault, their liability will cover your repairs.
As for your other problem, LEARN TO DRIVE. Seriously, put down the phone, turn down the music, and pay attention to the road.

Definitely your insurance policy will not cover such "parking incidents" of yours. Probably, it will rise you premiums. In the worst case, insurance company can even cancel your policy or decline to continue it. It's understandable, that you want to drive and probably need car. But please, think about safety of other road traffic participants. Be very careful!
PS: maybe if you have so much problems with parking - you can use one of this radio parking devices, which are evaluating the distance to the objects through sensors and warning you with voice.

ha ha im sure you will be a great comfort if you ran some poor soul over because you eyes are failing due to medical problems. I truely emphasize with you for your medical problems, having severe disabilities myself, I think about the safety of others out there FIRST!!! AS SHOULD YOU!!!! your insurance covers any accidental damage caused by your car. If you are BLIND!! AND CANNOT SEE!! THAT IS NO ACCIDENT! so before you cause any life changing events for anyone else (or you) make sure you are safe, the rest of us deserve not to get run over by someone who cannot see ok? thanks!!!
