If you are a young adult and want to be on your parents plan until age 26, that happens right away. Also the new rules about lifetime and yearly maximums are also in effect Jan 1 as well as other insurance company rules about not dropping sick people, and providing no-copys for mamograms, colonoscopy, flu shots and other preventative screenings. If you have a company-sponsored plan you should notice those right away.
The "insurance exchanges" will not be in effect for serveral more years because the states need time to set them up.

The Health Care Act went into effect this year. Here is a web page with the timelines for provisions of the Act. I have no idea which part of the Act you are interested in.

Parts are available right now. Your sick child can't be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions and your college student child can stay on your policy until age 26. Not bad, eh? The other elements come on line between now and 2014.

Portions are available now, the rest available no later than 2014. You may find all the facts online

Sorry - Obama-"CARE" - has nothing to do with HEALTH CARE.
It has everything to do with the GOVERNMENT getting between US and our Doctors... and...
And redistributing money from the people who pays for their own health care to those who do not.
