an engine. Toyota makes the best, most reliable engines in the world

While I agree with Nightfall, I am aware that V6 models had an issue with oil sludge for those years. However, the reason has been because of two possibilities: 1. The head design and 2. Owner negligence. The engines are great but my understanding is that the head was designed differently than the 92-96 model (eventhough they are the same engine) forthe 1997 OBDII emissions requirements. Due to it's design, it might develop oil sludge if not properly cared for. A friend of mine had this is issue on his 2000 Toyota Sienna (which is based on the Camry). His headgasket went bad and turned out to be due to oil sludge. Also, discovered that he had been neglecting many of his oil changes. My boss where I used to work at had a '97 Camry XLE V6 with 310,000 on the odometer and never had the issue. It ran like a new car, but he also took good care of his car. However, while this issue is a possibility, I've only seen two or three issues compared to the countless numbers of Toyota V6 owners that I know that own Camrys, Siennas and Avalons from those years that have never had an issue.
