Between Aruba, Barbados, and Puerto Rico, how do they rank in terms of expense outside of hotel costs?

I am especially interested in finding out about dining costs and activities costs for the three islands comparatively. Examples for prices would be very helpful and most appreciated. I have been searching through all the forums and have found no clear comparisons of the three. I plan to go next August, so I am trying to book early, but since I don't want a cruise this time(due to my plans not really working for it) I need to compare the individual islands. An All-Inclusive is possible depending on the AI.

Update:

This vacation is a combination birthday bash(if I can talk friends into going) and last vacation for about 4-5 years(other things will take up my time after this), so I want to enjoy myself. I am planning to spend quite a bit of time in the water, so the heat won't be an issue, but being a southerner I am used to hot summers with high humidity, but at least in the islands I would benefit from an ocean breeze.

Aruba is the more expensive of the three, but Barbados and Puerto Rico are similar. There are expensive "higher end" places to eat on both islands, but there are also plenty of very nice places to eat that are more modestly priced. Two people could have a very nice dinner for around $30 on both islands in nice restaurants unless you drink wine or liquor with the meal. That will always bump the cost substantially.

Both will be brutally hot in August, so be prepared to spend very limited time out in the sun. If you choose Barbados, look for a place to stay in the township of Christchurch and specifically in the area referred to as "St Lawrence Gap". If you stay there you won't need a vehicle. Many great restaurants within walking distance and the beach is beautiful as it is almost everywhere on the island. Bellini's is probably the best pick in the area.
