how much is a misprinted foil magic the gathering card worth?

I have a foil card that is misprinted, the foil on it isn't right, I don't know how to explain it. The card is nothing special, just a "shelter", but I don't know if there is any value in a misprint of it like there is with currency coins.

Misprints don't usually have a big 2nd hand market. However, there are misprints with missing mana cost symbol or with additional benefit (instead of producing 1 colourless mana, it produce 2 colourless mana). Those cards can fetch some good value since those cards, even though misprinted, are genuine MTG cards from Wizard's. These misprints are consider "legal" for casual play, that's you get the extra benefit. For tournaments, the head judge has the final call on whether one can use a misprint in his/her deck. Also, the text of a card is not based on what it is printed on the card but based on what's in Oracle, the data base of MTG from Wizard's that "overwrite" all misprints.

An example of misprint with wrong activation cost: the Japanese Cursed Scroll has an activation cost of 2 instead of 3.

An example of misprint with wrong activate ability: French Icy Manipulator can tap OR untap targets.

Source(s): I've been playing MTG since Ice Age. I love and enjoy this game. I love the complexity and enjoy the many possibilities.
