Is it just me or do most ebooks have a ton of typos?
I'm just curious if it's the books I've bought or if this is common in all ebooks. I've only read a few so far since getting my Reader but I notice tons of errors like weird spacing, missing or mispelled words, or even a random word that doesn't belong there smack in the middle of a sentence. I was reading Frankenstein the other day and the sentence read something like, "it was a scene of Frankenstein beauty." I just know Frankenstein was just randomly plopped in the middle of the sentence. So have I just got some bad books or is this common?

Actually, I can see how Frankenstein beauty could be an actual concept someone was trying to convey. Just thought I would say so, seeing as how I don't have much other expertise on this subject.

I would suspect the problem is the way e-books are produced. Something like Frankenstein was probably scanned into electronic format, then not carefully proof read to ensure the scanning program read the words correctly. This is likely a problem with most older books that are scanned instead of being written in electronic format (a modern word processor) to begin with.
You might find this problem too, with books that are straight to e-book format where the normal editorial process publishing houses use are not followed. I know it is also a problem in the self-publishing field like lulu.com.
