Why is the melting point of Aluminium lower than you might expect?

Why is the melting point of Aluminium lower than you might expect, considering its boiling point, and the trends of other period 3 metals? For example, the melting point of Aluminium is 933.52 K and the melting point of Magnesium is 923.15 K , but then the boiling point of Aluminium is 2740.15 K compared to the boiling point of Magnesium which is only 1380.15 K. Thank you for any help, xx
