Whatever has happened to courtesy, compassion and where is the love?

All I see from some people is a lot of criticism towards the students for standing up for their rights and those of future students too, firefighters who did the same, the BA crew for striking and anybody else who dares try to fight the system, putting down Ireland who have been going through a hard time, instead of offering solutions to their problems, blaming the EU for everything, when they are trying to help. All some of these people do is praise the rich and think that bowing and scraping to the current government and their so-called wonderful ideas.

Why don't some of you get a bloody backbone and try to see the bigger picture? We need to focus on the here and now plus the future. That means supporting the strikers and the protesters (not the violent ones obviously), trying to recall the troops back home as those wars are blood baths pure and simple, not letting our gov sell British assets and factories to the highest bidders, try to save the job market before we have nothing over here, stop saying we ought to pay for the Royal Wedding, good luck to them, but why should I pay for people who don't help me?) This is the time to pull together and help one another through these dark times. It is winter, cold, depressing, but we have Christmas coming up so let's try to make it a happy one. Stop moaning about the snow, it might cheer us all up (not everyone hates it).

Let's try to show one another some common courtesy and respect instead of this open hatred and disrespect for the likes of Ireland who need support not criticism. So, my question is where is the love?

It died, sometime around the origin of religion.

You're looking at it from only your perspective and it's pointless to get mad at how others act because that's just how they are. There's no changing it. Since it's unchangeable then there's absolutely no reason to be bothered. Love is where you least expect. And your definition of love probably doesn't match mine or anybody else's for that matter. Every person is different and if you asked each one what love was there wouldn't be a consensus. Just observe and control your own mind and maybe you'll bring love into someone else's life. This is all in my opinion of course. :) Cheer up.

EDIT: I forgot to mention Chivalry is Dead.

    Sorry... is it a trap?!

    Edited:

Seriously speaking, true love may exist among individuals only and no matter how different they might be.

But talking about love in a world that should be controlled by some powerful systems can never be heard as it should be. because who belong to those systems have no right to love or hate... they have just to follow strategies that keep order in the world as some Big Bosses see them good for the job.

Ah, "but love's such an old-fashioned word.."

I'm studying social care at the moment, we had a module on counseling and therapeutic relationships, I was amazed to find that there is a modern term for what used to be known as Christian love or charitable love (before charity became all about donating). The term is "Unconditional Positive Regard" or UPR.

I guess it is all abut removing the religious aspect and distancing the concept from anything that might be confused with lust.. but was saddened that it has apparently become necessary to invent a new term for such an ageless concept.

I know where you're coming from!

It's rapidly being lost because as you said the majority are so passive that they won't do anything about it. A good place to start is with ourselves, if each of us worked on showing more love to each other then it becomes so contagious that in the end we don't have these issues that you mentioned. But that would be in a perfect world and this world is far from that.

It was prophesied 2000 years ago that it would come to this in our time:

(2 Timothy 3:1-5) . . .But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.

(Matthew 24:12) . . .and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off.

Here is the reason why the love has been lost - many think that the Bible and God's guidance is a load of rubbish (I know I used to feel that way) - there are many reasons for this (but leads to lack of motivation to do another, therefore we have a passive society). It eventually leads to the following situation:

(Ephesians 4:18-19) . . .while they are in darkness mentally, and alienated from the life that belongs to God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the insensibility of their hearts. 19 Having come to be past all moral sense, they gave themselves over to loose conduct to work uncleanness of every sort with greediness.

(1 John 4:8) . . .He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love.

Is it possible to get true love for one another back? Yes - it takes effort and time but it is possible. It begins with drawing closer to our Creator, then we can respect ourselves and others more. It gives us the motivation to do it!

Money and prestige took over and the love is still there but it has shifted to love of inanimate objects instead of love of humans and what is more inanimate than a god ? tg
