why does my kenmore 80 series washing machine hot water not stop?
Hi, I have a Kenmore 80 series washing machine that I bought in 2004. A few days ago I came home to find to find that my the washing machine overflowed and flooded my basement. I turned off all the water going into it. Later, I turned just the cold water and I tested the machine on the "Cold-cold" setting and it worked fine. I turned off the cold valve and turned on the hot one, and as soon as I did that, the water started to pour out through the washing machine even though it wasn't on!!! How can I fix this??? Thanks!

hot water solenoid is stuck open. It is something that most handymen can easily change.
it's usually right behind the back wall where the hot water line hose is attached. I personally have never done it but you know they recommend that you turn all the water spigots off after each use because of this problem.

There a few things your should check. 1. The drain hose is too low, causing the washer to continuously fill and drain. 2. The pressure switch (water level switch) is not connecting. 3. The lid switch is bad, or not connecting. These are common problems for your issue.
