How can I Use my iPhone in United States?

I have a iphone that I brought from korea, it was given by my friend and he told me I could use it in U.S. and he works for the cell phone company in korea. but when I brought it here in U.S. and put my sim card in my iphone, the signal won't show up and can't use it. what should I do? and what is wrong with it? Do i have to unlock it? then how can I unlock my iphone? please help and serious answers only. thanks

    As someone sale, no. when you're pondering operating a employer promoting them, this is not unlawful yet Apple will sue you, ward off you from promoting them and also you may pay up large time. AT&T and Apple are going after small-time operations as quick as they could.
