iPod Touch 2G Turn On Problems?

I was trying to completely wipe my iPod Touch 2G *jail-broken* by going into my settings and using the "Erase all media, blah, blah" option. It had the progress bar, and when it finished, it restarted. The apple came up as expected, but then the little icon that comes up when something is loading appeared on top of the apple. From that point on, when the loading icon appears, it will just stay like that forever. I've tried re-starting it with the "power button/home button" technique and still the same thing happens.

Just for the record, I'm on Ubuntu 10.04. I have a Windows Vista laptop downstairs with iTunes on.

Thanks for any help, John.

    ahem, anyway...

I don't think you actually can unjailbreak your iPod using it's own wipe media function.

If I were you I would open iTunes on your vista laptop, connect your iPod, click "restore" and select restore as a new iPod (else it will return to a state in which it's jailbroken, which you don't want to happen)

...I hope that solved the question

p.s. If you can't sync with your iPod anymore it's bricked and you should follow this tutorial:

to still be able to restore it
