Catholics: When the Son of Man returns to judge?

...the living in the dead.

According to the teachings of the Catholic Church:

1) Will non-Catholic Christians be judged differently than Catholic Christians?

2) Will Jews, Muslims, and others who believe in God be judged differently?

Related question:

For years Christians have read about and believed in Jesus' return. Yet he has yet to come. Why would God want Christians to be "on alert" for so many years, even though Jesus' return was many years away?

Thanks in advance for all thoughtful answers. Peace.

Update:

Where did I say I was an expert? The fact that I am asking questions means I have a lot to learn. ????????

Jesus said that of those to whom more has been given more will be required. Certainly the means of grace and the vision of who God is and Who We Are demands more of all Christians. To accept the gift from the Master and merely bury it in the ground and neglect to give the Master a return says that we must be about the duties required of us or we will be punished illustrates the importance of human life in the Christian Dispensation. The message of the Gospel is that the best way of knowing Who God is to Know the Person of Christ. Persons are the Standard. The reference of your quote" Son of Man" is the Book of Daniel When this Figure is brought before the Throne of the Ancient of Days and is Given All Power and Honor. The earthly Kingdoms which had been Illustrated by the various symbols of beasts and Seemed Powerful and Decisive were not the "Honorable" Ones. Christians Have Often Failed to Grasp the Importance of This Parallel. How God Will Judge Non-Christians Probably Will Have to Do With This Embrace of the "Fully Human". Christians Will Be Judged by Their Adherence to the "Fully Christ-ed". The Merciful God Who Loves Us Has Privileged Us With Faith in Jesus as Pure Grace. Those Who Have Not Heard the Gospel Must Respond to What They Have Heard and Learned. Christ is the Way to the Father for All. For Believers This Means Faith Working in Love. For Non-Believers This Probably Means Love Working as Best It Can Often in the Dark . We Do Not Know How God Saves Everyone Else. As Gandhi said "If You Christians Were More Like Your Christ, India Would Be Yours". Our Duty is to Share What We Have Received; Preaching the Gospel; Using Words If We Have To But Using Human Lives Lived in the Glory of God. Figuring Out The Time of the Lord's Return Only Serves to Absolve Us of Present Responsibilities on Earth. The First Believers Saw Jesus' Return as Very Soon Especially With the Collapse of the Jewish Temple Worship and the Diaspora. The New Israel Was to Build Bridges instead of Walls and Draw All to Christ. How Are We Doing?

No one really knows the answer to that question. Traditionally it has been taught that Jesus "is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one can come to the Father but through Him." John 14:6. Later Popes since Vatican 2 seem to say that salvation is possible outside of the church but the reasons given for this are too long to go into this answer and require research.

It says in Romans that God judges hearts and actions regardless of a person's aspect.

Romans 2:11-15 "[11] For there is no respect of persons with God. [12] For whosoever have sinned without the law, shall perish without the law; and whosoever have sinned in the law, shall be judged by the law. [13] For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. [14] For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature those things that are of the law; these having not the law are a law to themselves: [15] Who shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness to them, and their thoughts between themselves accusing, or also defending one another,"

If the law is taken to mean church law or religious law then I believe in the mercy of God towards all his children.

    <<Catholics: When the <snip> be judged differently?>>

Why are you asking mere people how God Himself plans to Judge the living and the dead?

    <<Related question: For <snip> many years away?>>

It is Written, if you knew a theif was going to rob your house, you'd stay awake and guard your family and propery from the theives. We KNOW Jesus is coming, but it is not our lot to know when. Therefore, we must conduct our lives as if Jesus could show up today, now.

The bottom line is, those who do not stay alert will not be ready when He does come.

<<Thanks in advance <snip> lot to learn. ????????>>

Forgive them. Most questions dealing with the Second Coming are usually asked by people who don't believe in it; hence the "short temper" for believers.

Glad you asked. Today at Sunday Mass, which is the first week of the Advent season, the the Holy Scriptures were about the second coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord spoke of the days of the coming of the End Times. "People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with great power and glory. " Lk 21, 26-28

Just be prepare to meet Him in the state of grace and who have followed His teachings. He will judge all people; dead and alive.

Everyone will be judged according to their state in life, how they loved God and helped others in love and charity, for those who have heard of Christ and rejected Him regardless of their faith or nationality there can be no salvation for it has been the plan of God to save us in His Son.

Of course not everyone who claims to be Catholic or Protestant has a get into heaven quick card if they are Christian in name only,Jesus speaks about this failure on the part of believers several times.

(Matthew 7:21): “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven``.

(Luke 18:15-17): People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them, but Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.`` Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

There are other passages that stipulate what we must do to enter heaven but the bottom line is that God knows every heart and cannot be fooled as we fool ourselves and each other so easily, and God allows for no liberalism in the urgent matter of salvation.

    God bless.

On why He would want us to be "on alert",thats because thats the only safe attitude to have and be in,in order to hope to be in a right state spiritually speaking,at one's death, which can unpredictably happen at any moment and age.The opposite of "always on alert status" would be disregard/indifference/ignoring/lax/unconcerned: and obviously someone in these states is going to be blind and caught off guard as to the important danger of losing their chance at eternal life,as death sneaks up on them before they have gotten right with God,so to speak
