How did the migrants struggle in California during the Great Depression?

    I haven't read that book but he wrote Of Mice And Men. And I did History at GCSE. They weren't looked at kindly anyway (especially africans/anywhere in the east) and there were no jobs because of the depression. Many men left any families/friends they had made and looked for any jobs they could find. I think most went down south and ended up working on farms, with long hours and little pay..

    Oh and I think because of the drought, California was a 'dust-bowl' which mean there was little food and no work for farmers (which most migrants were) :)
