what are some things I can put a cake on?
I usually put my cakes on a card board but I have started make bigger cakes and the card board is not holding up anymore. the cakes are getting too heavy. So I was wondering what can I use that will hold up to the weight? Also What do people use for wedding cakes? do you use some kind of platter and ask for it back? any suggestions for larger cakes that can hold the weight?

Yes, people do use plastic disks to make wedding cakes and ask for them back. That's all I know about that. But if you have a food commissary store in your town, they should have everything you need for the whole cake thing, or "Micheal"s".

When working with larger cakes, (ie: wedding cakes, specialty cakes) I tend to make a base by layering cardboard sheets fitted to the cake and gluing them together with tacky glue then covering them with the proper foil from either Michaels or your bakery supply store a day before. I'll usually use about 4-5 pieces depending on the cake. I have found it's the cheapest way to go and still gives the support needed.
