our baby started sitting up in it steady on his own around 4 months, everyone that uses a bumbo will tell you its the best.

but just remember, THEY CAN FALL OUT OF THEM. A child fell out of one years ago and fell on the floor from a table and died and they had to completely redo their packaging because it had a baby on a table on it.

and my baby just recently fell out of own suddenly but he was in his play pen when it happened.

I tried my daughter in one at 4 months and she was too little for it and kept slumping over. We tried again at 5 months and she loved it! She is now 12 months old and I still use it as a high chair for her with the tray attached (I sit her in it on the floor). I hear all these moms saying that their babies are too big for the Bumbo at 6 months or younger. Their babies must be huge because my 4 year old neice visited us and she could actually fit in it. I think Bumbos are really great and very useful.

Someone gave us a free Bebe Pod. It is softer than the Bumbo. I am glad it was free because my baby would have outgrown it. I tried her in it at 4 months (she is a bigger baby) and she hated it! Screamed. Eventually with practice she liked it although it is a bit tight and will probably be put away by the time she is 5 1/2 months old if not sooner.

I used it entirely as a seat on the ground not as a place to feed her.

We started using it when my son was about 3 months old. He was able to roll both ways and had good head support. He liked it the first couple of times, but after that it became more hassel then it was worth -- he spent most of his time in it arching his back trying to get out, and leaning for objects so I would spend more time repositioning him then enjoying the 'hands free time' the box promised.

I ended up selling it a few weeks later for the same price I paid for it. However, my son is one of the few babies I know of who _don't_ enjoy the Bumbo. My son was always very active and never enjoyed sitting still (He was walking at 8½ months) so I guess this is why it wasn't a success for us, but everyone else I know raves about them.

Zoë loves her bumbo. We have the tray that goes with it and she has a blast. I can put toys on it and she can reach around for them and explore without having to be on her tummy or back. She is almost to the stage though that she can throw herself out of it if she doesn't want to be in it anymore... so you can't put your kid in it without supervision. Other than that, we LOVE our bumbo. I'll be keeping this one for the next kid. It's also great to bring along for dining out so she doesn't have to sit in her carseat or an icky high chair.

Ive read a review on these as i was going to buy one but decided not to. I will try and find the review and add the link for you but it pretty much says that they are bad for the baby as it put the baby in an unnatural sitting position and it goes on about the babies spine and neck etc etc. I will try and find it now........

My 9 week old tried one yesterday and loved it!

As long as they can hold their own head up they're great for giving them a place to sit on their own.

They're also great for that in-between stage when they start eating solids but are too little for a highchair.

    We've asked Santa for one!
