Between the three common opponents Mayweather and Pacquiao have all agree that Floyd is the better fighter?
Oscar Dela Hoya

Juan Manuel Marquez
http://boxing.fanhouse.com/2010/07/25/juan-manuel-...
Ricky Hatton

Why is it that the only three men on earth that have actually stepped in the ring with both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacqauio all agree that Floyd is the better fighter. All these expert opinions and fans that claim Manny Pacqauio would overwhelm Floyd with hundreds of punches, but the men that have faced the two beg to differ.
The point being this; Knockouts don't determine who's the better fighter, dose it look better, yes, but its not an indicator of skill nor style.
@ CM~ I'd like to see you respond to this question but chances are you'll hide just like most Pacqauio fans do when the tough questions appear.

Pac beat DeLa Hoya far more convincingly than Floyd did, but Floyd made the Marquez fight look easy and Manny worked against Marquez. Hatton was undefeated when Floyd KOed him, but Manny almost killed Hatton, so it's a tough call.
Over all Floyd looked better than Manny by a very wide margine against Marquez, and Manny edged Floyd by a wide margine against Oscar.
Given that the Hatton fight was a blow out for both, I would call this one 51/49 in Floyd's favore, a very slim advantage, if any at all.

Ok I agree that Floyd is better fighter.
Again not.
Its natural for the 3 to say that Floyd is better than Manny. Why? Their defeat from Manny Pacquiao was more painful compare to their defeat from Floyd. Obviously, if two guys hit you but one guy beats you more painful, and you were given the choice between the two, you will choose the lesser evil of course.
For Dela Hoya-his fight against Manny was more of a personal for him, Manny chose TR instead of GBP, dela hoya was mad about it. So when little Pacquiao beat him to a pulp, Oscar was very bitter because he cannot accept the fact that the little guy made him retire.
For Marquez- Marquez never taste canvass prior to his 3 knockdowns from Pacquiao and the fact that Manny "Mexican Executioner" indeed executed his compatriots, nationalism will certainly gets in his mind. As a result, he is bitter and jealous on Manny Pacquiao.
For Hatton-Nothing to say except Manny just destroyed his career.
These guys are bitter on Manny Pacquiao and if asked, they will naturally say that Mayweather is better.

My first reaction is: How the heck could Ricky Hatton know the difference in 2 rounds with Pacquiao?
But I think most observers agree that Floyd is the better boxer and in terms of skill and style presents the most difficult puzzle to any boxing opponent. Against Pac, there is no puzzle but these guys lost because of inferior athleticism against the human dynamo. Pac is the kind of fighter that almost anyone would know how to beat, but not many would have the combination of stamina, strength and speed required to execute the proper gameplan.
Lets take JMM. You can see from the fight that JMM absolutely no idea going into the fight how to beat Floyd. He was taken out of his counter-punching game and was forced to be the agressor. He can't even reach Floyd, and Floyd doesn't take chances and give opennings for JMM to exploit. JMM will find Floyd more difficult than Pac, because styles make fights.
But lets not confuse that with our analysis on who will win when Floyd and Manny finally do fight. Styles make fights is cliche. I wish I can remember the title but I remember a Ring magazine article that referred to comparisons like the one you mentioned and how they are just as often wrong as they are right when predicting fight outcomes. The gist of the article is that the perspective of the fighter is not always the best perspective in making an analysis. They each would have gifts that are particular to them only and he would find one fighter more difficult than the other, but another fighter could have it reversed. There also may be some resentment. We all know that Oscar hates Manny because of the broken off promotions and management deal, and that JMM is very resentful against Pac for those close matches. Ricky, just has to make you smile, because he was asleep before he can possibly make a decent comparison.

I'm a Pacquiao fan (not a Pactard though) but I have no qualms saying that Money is a more skillful and a more all around better boxer than Manny.
Manny is an almost superhuman (hence the speculations) offensive boxer who is continuing to evolve into a better all around boxer each year. And he is doing it while moving up in weight and killing bigger boxers (another case for doubt).
BUT all boxing fans want to see is for these two prize fighters to square out in the ring next year. Fans can say what they want outside the ring, but the truth is what happens up there, & heck if real boxing fans should care what casual fans say.
Now I respect both fighters. And I do admire those they have beaten as well. (Well maybe except for Clottey especially after he didn't come out of his turtle shell in his fight with Manny).
But Money is the more skillful and the better defensive boxer. Manny is the more likeable guy and the more explosive offensive threat hence the more entertaining boxer (especially to casual fans) and that's the bottom line.

I can understand ODLH and Marquez saying that. After all, Marquez was blown out by Floyd and had two close fights with Pac. ODLH, at least had time to gauge Pac and Floyd, and can make an educated statement. He blames his blowout from Manny based on being weight drained (but if that was the case, then I'm not sure why he didn't continue to fight at 154), but he's also had a personal vendetta against Pacquiao...remember when he said he doesn't punch hard, then he said after the steroid allegations broke out, "now I know why those punches from Pacquiao, Vargas and Mosley all felt the same". Sour grapes? Siding with the fighter his company promotes occasionally? Maybe. Or maybe...maybe he feels that Floyd is a better boxer.
But RICKY HATTON?! LOL! This guy swears he was winning the fight against Floyd and blames the referee! He got completely blown out of the water by Pacquiao. If you guys think it was "one" lucky punch, then I guess people weren't watching the first round when Pac nailed him over and over again. So what was his excuse? If Floyd is better than Pacquiao, then why does Hatton keep pining for a rematch with Floyd, but goes into a drug binge thiking about Pacquiao?
Bottom line, these guys could have ulterior motives for what they go on record to say who is "better", but it's no secret that Floyd is more technically sound than Pacquiao, but in terms of pure dominance? I give that nod to Pacquiao. Ask these fighters who "dominated" them more, Pacquiao or Mayweather, and they'll agree. So there it is, skill vs. dominance? Who wins? Who knows, until Mayweather comes out of hiding and decides to risk his "0".
NOW...only if Mayweather had the same confidence as these guys that he's a better boxer or the same confidence as his fans in that it would be an easy fight, then we wouldn't even have to ask this question as it would have already been settled in the ring.

That is their opinion. I can't believed that I can find somebody who can give any merit on what they said. They were sore losers and they can not accept that they got beat by a smaller guy. I expect Oscar and JMM to say that. GBP was dying to make that fight between JMM and Manny. Ricky Hatton was undefeated at Jr Middleweight before until Manny knock him out. If Floyd is a better fighter ,then he is but until they fought, the true judgement is still on hold. Everything is just opinion.
Here is the link that makes these two, JMM and Oscar say everything they can to criticized and degrade Manny. Found out what kind of a person these people are. http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content8911.html If after these you still trust Oscar and the GBP, then I salute your never ending admiration to these people.

Those were the opinions of those fighter based on the game-plan that Mayweather and Pacquiao made during their fights.
If Mayweather would fight Pacman, then the gameplan of Pacman would surely change based on the posible gameplan of Mayweather.
Thus, those 3-boxers could not be used as a basis that Mayweather would defeat Pacman.

I've answered a similar question several days ago so here it is again:
Yes, clearly Floyd is the better fighter for them. At least they lasted longer and had a better chance. It's always logical to pick the one who beat you most as an inferior opponent so you will look better.
Source(s): Silly and illogical reasoning by losers. - SeabiscuitLv 71 decade ago
I don't think you're quite the man of understanding that you like to believe you are. Pacquiao didn't get raised by a family of fighters, he wasn't in the gym since he was 5 years old, he's a guy who lived in poverty, a guy that was so malnourished that he only weighed 106lbs. when he was 18 years old(I weighed 106lbs. in the 4th grade) , he didn't start fighting until he was in his teens. His story is amazing.
Obviously he doesn't have the pedigree like Floyd Jr., he's not 5'10' or a natural welterweight, he didn't get the extensive amateur training where he was taught every trick in the book like Floyd, he didn't get to go to golden Gloves or get a chance to fight in the Olympics, at the age Floyd was fighting with head gear on, Manny was shoved in the ring with professional fighters and he lost.
Manny has done more with less, he fights the way he has to in order to succeed.
My opinion on the subject is the same as Kevin Iole, the writer who is certainly smarter than all 3 of those guy's combined. Floyd is the better pugilist, but Manny Pacquiao is the better fighter. There's a difference.
You're making this a race thing, but yet you call out the Filipino's for being overly supportive of Pacquiao, when your soul reason for supporting Mayweather is because he is black. The difference between you and I is that I wouldn't support Pacquiao is he acted like Floyd, started with racist rants on people he don't even know, always thinking he's better than everybody. I think you're the real racist here, but you ain't willing to admit it.
Tell me I'm wrong?
