Possible Virus I Can't Get Rid Of?

My computer keeps saying it's out of disc space or something and I know for a fact it isn't. I cleared a bunch of stuff I didn't need and I also performed a system restore and have no music discographies or tv shows downloaded on my Utorrent like I used to. I only have 2 music albums and I've been using control panel to get rid of all the useless software thats automatically on your computer. Basically it should be at an all time high for having avaliable memory left. My friend said he had something like this happen to him before and it was a virus. But it didn't stop after I did a system restore. Now whenever I go to download music or something it say's there's not enough disc space. Also a little notification keeps popping up and saying that like every few minutes. How do I make it go away so I can download music and redo my Itunes because I'm going crazy not having new music on my ipod?

I see you haven't killed yourself that's good, ...I guess.

But to answer this question. The issue you are having doesn't really necessarily mean you have a virus. You can try running disk defrag and all the good stuff. I good free virus software program I have used in the past is Spybot/Search & Destroy. It'll find quit a bit of stuff but like I said it may not even be a virus or malware. It could be simple that you hard drive needs to be organized better if you have a large hard drive and fairly small memory like a gig or 2, you can run into problems just because you computer will inevitable put more and more files on hold which will cause you ram to get absorbed with useless info. Basically if you open a program and then close it, the computer will leave some of the components of the program in you memory to try and speed up the process of reopening the program later. You might want to go through and remove some thing from you your start up menu. You can also try reverting your PC graphics to the basics to help free up some memory. I'll assume you are using windows, the thing about windows is that it is heavy in GUI (graphic user interface) and it can really sop up some serious memory if you have a small amount of RAM to begin with. The trick to organizing your Hard drive is to delete things you don't use and/or compressing files you don't use so the computer wont unnecessarily search them. Think of your Hard drive like a room full of stuff when the room gets full and you need to find something you need to search through a bunch random things to find what you want but if you organize it and put certain objects in boxes and bags and label it properly then when you go looking for something you find it fast and you wont have to fill up you hallway as much to find what you looking for. The hallway is the RAM, by the way. The bigger the Hallway (RAM) the easier it'll be to dig also. You get my drift?

get malwarebytes (free version) from malwarebytes.org

Run a full scan, multiple times until the infections are gone.

But it sounds to me like your hard drive is full. Go to My Computer, and find your C drive and choose properties. Look at how much free space is available. If it says you have very little left, then you need to go through the rest of your documents/music/videos and clear some more stuff off.

For your free anti-virus I recommend in this order (install only one): 1. AVG Free a. A simple interface (easier to use than Avast! and Avira) b. Can detect about 82.82% of viruses Cons: low virus detection 2. Avast! a. Real-time protection b. It has an option to delete a virus once found c. Can detect about 87.46% of viruses. Cons: Too many icons and confusing user interface 3. Avira AntiVir a. It can detect malware better than Avast and AVG b. It's cute umbrella icon c. Can detect about 94.26% of viruses Cons: A very sluggish update As for anti-spyware, I would recommend getting Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy (they are also free).

First, run a virus scan with Malwarebytes (quick scan first, if nothing found, do a full scan- will take a while).

    Download Malwarebytes (free version): http://www.malwarebytes.org/

You didn't say whether or not you had an anti virus or if you had run a scan with it.

If you have no anti virus protection on your computer, download Microsoft Security Essentials (or whichever anti virus you like) and run a scan:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Then, do these things (in this order):

    DISC CHECK

    DISC CLEAN UP

    DISC DEFRAGMENTER

These things should take care of your problem.

Try running a virus scan yet? If you don't have one installed, I recommend doing that. You can, in the meantime take advantage of some of the free ones on the web. One I always use, was recommended to me by my service provider. It is Trend Micro. They have a free for personal use virus scanner that will also clear any it finds off for you. Good luck, I hope it works for you:)

    probably a rogue software

rogue softwares are hard to remove as they work as a part of your OS.first you need to kill its processes using rkill

instructions and download links can be found here

    http://www.brighthub.com/computing/smb-security/ar...

also,go to malwarebytes.org and get the free version

once you're done getting rkill to work,do not reboot your machine.perform a full scan with malwarebytes and try to remove the infected files.

if your computer doesnt let you run rkill, boot up in safe mode and follow the same procedure

Source(s): and next time, get a good firewall and av protection, these sort of programs infect your computer through your network holes
