Why do parents INSIST on giving santa all the credit for THEIR hard earned money and love?

Santas not even real and your kids grow up not knowing that you are the ones that worked hard for their gifts that you picked out with love. Seems like a flawed tradition. Anyone got a GOOD reason for giving santa all the credit?

so there is somebody to blame when your kid doesn't get what they want.

I don't have a good reason - we take all the credit for the majority of the gifts. Santa gets to give one big present, opened up last - so the kid gets to enjoy the smaller Mommy and Daddy gifts first without being blown out of the water.

Because it's a fun tradition and it only adds to the fun. Parents enjoy seeing their kids thinking it's Santa. Kids can appreciate it later when they're older to understand. Most of us do.
