Why do people hate SUV drivers and pickup truck drivers?

I was reading about SUVs and pickup trucks and I saw a lot of very hateful inmature comments on them. People were saying that everyone drives one is a selfish @$$hole who is a horrible driver and is killing the envirnment and has a small d-ick. What kind of car you drive does not going to change the envirnment. SUVs and trucks are much more convinent than small cars. My family has 2 SUVs and I could not imagine having 2 small cars. SUV and truck drivers are also usually poilte drivers who won't tailgate, and let you go at an intersection. People driving sports cars are usually the worst drivers (this is based on observations I have had, not sterotypes). And who cares how bad of a milleage another persons car gets, thats their problem not yours, people should be able to drive what they want. They also say that they can't see if their behind an SUV, i have driven small cars and been behind hummers and still able to see find, if you can't see infront of you thats because your tailgating which is your fault.

So why do people hate SUV and pickup trucks

Update:

priuses are worse for the envirnment than hummers

    I understand that you may have had a different experience than I, but where I'm from a lot of drivers seem to believe that "might makes right", so if they're in a bigger vehicle than yours they have the right to tailgate you while revving the engine aggressively, cut you off, run red lights, not stop for pedestrians, etc. I absolutely agree that sports car drivers can behave this way too - and hey, I've even been the recipient of road rage from a minivan driver - so this type of behaviour isn't exclusive to truck and SUV drivers. Still, I have to say that in MY experience, the bigger the vehicle, the more aggressive drivers tend to be.

    Amen!

    I could not agree with you more.

    I have an economy car (2010 Corolla, 27+mpg) all the way up to a lifted F-350 Crew Cab Utility bed 4x4 truck sitting on 37" tires that gets 11mpg on a good day (not to mention my hot rod that gets about 4.5mpg). That is my problem, not some bleeding heart liberals problem. What I notice most when driving my stupid big truck is I get cut off daily by the little "raced out" Hondas and such. They love to squeeze between me and whatever is in front of me. It blows my mind that they would be in such a hurry that they would cut of a 10,000lb+ truck. Good thing I have drilled and slotted rotors to help it stop quick.

    Lets rant about electric cars too......what happens when the batteries die? They do not decompose, they go to a landfill and all their poisons seep back ito the earth. That sounds real good for the environment. What about the battery manufactures strip mining for their minerals. And then there is the electricity that needs to be produced to charge said cars. It isn't free and it creates smog and pollution just like an internal combustion engine, but the liberals think that is ok because the are not directly (so they think) producing as much smog out of their tail pipe.

    It is a statistical fact that the majority of SUV drivers are more apt to be less concerned about endangering others whilst in pursuit to get where their going. This reckless selfishness can be observed at any given time, all one needs to do is observe.

    SUV drivers are ALWAYS in a hurry and seem to gravitate towards the outer edges of insanity.

    It is the opinion of the AMA that the behavior of the typical SUV driver is that of an retarded crack ape.

    well it comes to nessicaty

    to be honest i hate to see a woman driving an as you call it SUV, i also hate seeing a big off road jeeps without a towbar or any use for it

    even though i have a pajero

    its frequently used (off road and for towing trailers) by the way

    in Ireland people only buy jeeps and crew cabs only if they need one

    thats why most of the people driving heavy and offroad vehicles here are farmers and builders

    Beats me. I have two vehicles that I drive out of necessity;

    - a 2006 Malibu Maxx

    - a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

    .............. and one that I drive for pleasure;

    - a 1959 Jaguar XK 150

    And depending on which one I am driving I am treated completely different from the other two.

    My attitude and my driving habits don't change from one to the other but other motorists perception of me sure do; as evidenced by how they conduct themselves in traffic and when talking to me at rest stops and garages.

    I've never in my life heard anyone state they don't like pickup truck or suv drivers.

    They think they own the road, throw their vehicles at others, cheat at the stop signs, tailgate the cars ahead of them, park the trucks right in the middle, or taking two parking spots, ect, ect.
