As the other poster said, gold and silver are measured in Troy ounces. A troy ounce is about 10% more then a regular ounce. As for the size of the gold bars that trade on the Exchange, they usually weigh 400 troy ounces.

The size of the silver bars are 1000 ounce bars. Right now if you wanted to buy a 400 ounce gold bar it would cost you $568,400.00 from Kitco. A 1000 ounce silver bar would cost $29,750.00 then you have to pay to have it shipped to you. Bronze is not a precious metal so there are no retail sources for pricing or sizes.

Precious metals use Troy ounce in pricing. Look it up.
