Hyrdogen Proxide in fruit ?

I purchase a few hours ago pre-cut cantaloupe. After taking it home opening it up and taking a few bites I notice it tasted and smell like hydrogen proxide my girlfriend confirm after she took a bite also. We both been feeling sick since. I was wondering are they liable for medical bills that may occur from this if we would had to go see a doctor? Is there other compensation we are entitle too? Or should I just get my money back?

You must have a good nose to smell Hydrogen Peroxide.

The type of hydrogen peroxide sold in beauty supply stores is very dangerous.

If that was used or if the peroxide was inside and unopened cantaloupe it is likely it was injected and you have a food tampering case.

If that is so forget about worrying about bills and call the police immediately before others are poisoned.

The FDA and the FBI will get called in immediately. Food tampering is a big deal and those that do it tend to be serial criminals.

If that was not the case.

Mild 1 to 3% hydrogen peroxide is used by many consumers to wash away pesticides.

Most of the sprays you by for that contain hydrogen peroxide.

It is likely someone washed the cantaloupe.

The concentration of the stuff you wash fruits and vegetables with and the usual household type are not seriously poisonous.

In fact there are some of those nut "nutrition" type practitioners that have people drinking hydrogen peroxide for their bowels.

35% hydrogen peroxide is considered to be food grade, It is sold to use for cleaning kitchen counter tops. Some people use it as mouth wash or to clean ears, a wound. I have never heard of putting it directly into food. You probably won't become ill but I wouldn't eat the fruit if it is so strong you can smell and taste it. Take the fruit back to the store. The counter they cut the fruit on might have had cleaner on it. It might alert them to a bad practice used by their employees to keep the work areas disinfected.
