CV in a 1992 Toyota Corolla?

I need to fix the cv in my 1992 Corolla but I can't get the left half axle to come out of the transmission. The car has a 5 speed manual transmission. The hub stays in the transmission , even when I pull the axle the cv part stays in the transmission. Thanks for any advice.

    The reason you're having difficulty is the entire half-shaft must be removed from the transmission. All you do is use a short carpenters nail puller and a block of wood to pry against the side of the inner CV-Joint and the side bell of the transmission. The inner portion of the half shaft that slides inside the rear-end spider-gears has a hefty snap-ring that will compress and allow the half-shaft to pop-out if you pry hard enough with a nail puller or wonder-bar.

    It's less expensive to replace the entire half shaft with a re-manufactured one than to screw-around trying to replace just one CV-Joint. Any auto parts store can get one for you.     Gee, I thought that was your question. Thanks for stating the obvious though. You can either try prying it out or find a place on the shaft to hit it with a hammer to drive it out. It just needs a hard pull to pop loose. You could also use a pair of vise grips or C-clamp on the shaft to hit with a hammer.

    Use a pry tool (made for axle pulling) to put behind the axle and give it a little bump it should pop out, be careful oil will come out as well.

    i use a big screwdriver or prybar and ill push it up between the axle and the trans housing,, make sure your not on any lines or electrical,, then as it is hanging down towards the ground i lay on the ground and give the screwdriver one good swift kick with my foot and itll break free.. be ready for trans fluid to come out,, small amount but still messy, have a bucket ready... and im talking about a 2 foot long screwdriver at least..

    You need a big pry bar to unlock the ring clip that's keeping the hub in the transmission.Pry the hub off the output shaft.

    Sometimes they pop right out and at other times make you crazy... the trick is to apply

    pressure in such a manner that the stub does not jam to one side or the other... using

    two pry bars to remove the stub usualy works by prying with one while using a counter

    force with the other to stop it from jamming in the trans...

    get a pry bar and stick behind it. there,s a c-clip on the end and it keeps the axle in.
