What are a few GREAT long term online mmorpgs?
Runescape "classic" and Runescape2 has been my primary dweeb outlet for the better part of a decade, i have done all there is to possibly do on it, from maxing out all of my statistics, collecting discontinued items, and amassing the maximum amount of coins allowed, I can now say that Jagex and I are completely through. I would like to say in advance, do not go with the obvious answers such as Maplestory, and World of Warcraft, as the thought of them makes me queasy in my stomach. A big thank you to whomever puts me on to my next great game conquest! :)

Honestly, I think you would really enjoy World of Warcraft, its a great journey in the lower levels collecting up items and growing in strength, playing with your other lowbie mates and then getting higher up and conquering places solo, showing off your magic strength and skills :D but if you are morally against giving it a chance, Age of Conan is pretty fun, Lord of the Rings online is now free (you don't have to pay a monthly subscription) and the new Star Wars MMO is coming out soon...really up to you though, everyone has their own opinions, good luck!

Well as of now the top two MMORPGs out there are WoW and Rift. I have played both at max level and must say that WoW is 100x better. I like Rifts PvP much more though it is more fun imo. If you don't mind waiting a few months Star Wars the old Republic and Guild Wars 2 will be coming out.
