How much of a bank note do you have to have to spend it?

Yeah, I know, weird question, but I'm just curious :).

I mean if you ripped it, is there some rule like you have to have more than half of it, or at least three corners?

    one of the serial numbers has to be complete and the other number in diagonally opposite corner has to be at least partially complete, most retailers would reject it but you can get it changed for another at the bank.

    The part with the full serial number showing - otherwise it is garbage
