First off, I wouldn't buy any of these basses. If you want a bass buy a fender or at least a Squire. Look at Guitar Center and get a Squire Jazz or P bass if that's the price range you need to stay in. If you're just starting out don't worry about pick ups. All you need to know is that active pickups are always better than passive.

Honestly, each one of these basses you listed will sound the same no matter what they have.

I would save up and buy a used Fender

    Hello there,

Pickups? Pickups are what makes your bass able to be heard. A pickup is a magnet with a coil of wire wrapped about it. It picks up the vibration from the steel strings and transmits that signal to your amplifier. On an electric bass, the sound is not very loud without the amplifier. There are 2 general types of pickups, active and passive. Passive pickups are the more common. They are just as I described, a magnet with a coil of copper wire. An active pickup incorporates a preamp chip and runs off a small battery (usually a 9 volt). The active pickups give a stronger signal to the amp. Because of the preamp, they are more sensitive and will pickup more sound. That is both good and bad. Active pickups are great for playing harmonics. But active pickups also pickup every little sound you make on the strings. So, your technique has to be pretty good to play active pickups. I do not recommend active pickups for beginners.

Any of those 3 basses would be fine for a beginner. I have no preference among them. I am not excited about any of them, but I do not find anything wrong with any of them either.

I play guitar right handed, but play the bass left handed. Recently I bought an Ibanez and it is a very good bass (not the model you listed). I also have a Turnser Beatle bass (I like the looks). I really like Fender Jazz, but those are not cheap. Sometimes you can find a deal on a used one on eBay or Craigslist. Left handed guitars and basses are not as common. So you generally pay more for a used lefty than a right handed used one. Just not as many available.

Here are a few basses I saw on eBay that may be of interest to you.

    Squier Jazz. Not an auction.

Fender Jazz. An auction. 13 hours left bidding at $234.

Ibanez EXB404L. An auction. 1 day 9 hours left. Bidding at $17.50. No serious bidders yet, but kids trying to buy it for a few bucks.
