UTI always after sex?

I am a healthy 17 year old girl and have been in a relationship with my boyfriend for about a year and a half now. I have only had sex with him during this period of time and we both lost our viginities to each other. We started having sex after 10 months and things seemed to be going fine. We always used protection (condom) but after every time we had sex, about 2 days later I would have a Urinary Tract Infection. This happened about 4 times and my Mom got pretty mad and told me that I am becoming resistant to the UTI anti-biotics. This worried me as all of these UTI's within a short time frame is really unhealthy! Since my last one (about two months ago) I haven't had sex with my boyfriend in fear that I may get another one. I have been cleaning really well, whipping front to back and everything but I am too worried to try again. Our relationship is fine without sex but it's also really great.

Is there anything I can do to avoid one and still enjoy sex again?? I really miss being intimate with my boyfriend!

Thanks xoxox

the previous comments have good tips so I won't bother repeating them. I just wanted to add that in some special cases (possibly like yours) the doctor will prescribe a antibiotic to take immediatly after sex each time to prevent UTIs from developing. Talk to your doctor about your issues. They probably will suggest a lot of other stuff first but this might be your best option.

Just urinate immediately after sex. Having intercourse can irritate your urethera introducing bacteria to the opening. Maybe a change of position or lubricant can help. Peeing after will flush the track and usually if you don't have a UTI, urine is basically sterile. Also drinking cranberry juice (not "drink", JUICE) has natural antibiotics that cleans bacteria out of the bladder. You should be drinking lots of water too. In otherwords, drink and pee! Men don't usually have this problem because the urinarry track is so much longer, the bacteria will die before causing an infection. If you're douching, don't use the stuff they sell in a pack; they can irritate. You should be able to cleanse in the bath or use plain water if necessary. Mama is right about the anti-biotics. However, you should mention it to your doc cause you might not be getting the right meds. Hope this helps and Godloveya.

Try different condoms and different brand of lube. It is also important for him to be clean. If he is not practicing good hygiene then there is nothing than you may continue to get UTI's

Try a different kind of condom, one that's NOT latex based but animal skin based. It won't protect against STDs, but it will against pregnancy. You may have an allergy to latex.
