Why doesn't Canada have a REAL federal conservative party?

Though in Canada, we currently have a Conservative Party in power, they really are more progressive and are not fiscal at all.

And they really are not social conservatives either. Why is this? The other parties in the house of commons are all left leaning parties (socialists, liberals and separatists)

If you have not noticed already, are politics is messed up!

Update:

The current conservative government has created the biggest deficit in recent years!

Update 2:

Prior to the conservatives in power, there were many years of liberals in power and the deficit was much lower!

The reason is nobody wants that.

Also, it’s not the Conservatives that have created the deficit. That would be the Americans. Before they ******-up the system, Canada was running a budget surplus for 10 straight years (and that was under the Liberal government).

Are you kidding? Harper and his neo-theocons are more right wing than Mussolini. The only reason they haven't been more conservative is they are in a minority government. Give that miserable bunch a majority and watch how they completely destroy the country. Every now and then you get a hint at how these people think, and it isn't pleasant to think of a future with them controlling all the shots.

The deficit results from the fact that they really don't know what they are doing.

Because there is no demand for them? Like it or not, the majority of Canadians (over 70% I would wager seeing as the opposition has ~60% of the vote and add in a little for the people who voted for progressive conservative candidates) don't want an American style "Conservative" government.

Source(s): @Fizzy. Not true, Canada was running a slight deficit when the recession hit. It has a surplus when Harper came to power. The 2% GST tax cut hurt the budget.

Soviet Canuckistan does have a real conservative party but they don't have enough seats in their federal parliament to govern effectively like a real conservative gov't. Too many socialists and liberals in that country. Eventually, it'll be their ruin.

I know. I lived 30 minutes from Kingston, ON for a few years and most of the people seemed pretty conservative. They just didn't know it.
