Who wants to hear a touching story?

This mare and gelding are the best of buddies and are very rarely seen 3 feet from each other. Elmo is hard of hearing and when he is sleeping and does not hear you coming with the feed she nudges him to wake him up. He has a very old injury to his back leg and he prefers to lie down to nap, when he is sleeping Cheyeene is never far from him watching over him. If the other horses are threatening him over the fence she charges up with her teeth bared and they run off (they are in a pasture alone but the horses in the pasture next to them think that they are tough guys from time to time and make mean faces over the fence)

This weekend with the farrier I really saw these two horses know each other and how caring the old mare really is.

The farrier was out to give a trim and Elmo has a hard time holding up his front feet for a long time, my farrier is GREAT with him and does just a little at at a time and she barely makes him hold his hoof off the ground. Don't get me wrong he is not lame he just has a hard time standing on 3 legs. Well she was working on the hoof that he has the hardest time with and Cheyeene (who was standing right there with him the whole time) Slid up under his head so that he was able to lean his weight on her back. Once she did that he was able to stand there with no issues and get his foot finished. My farrier was like look at that she just knew that he needed a little helping hand.

I wish that I had snagged a pic of it but my phone was being retarded and would not take the pic. These 2 are the best of friends and even though I spend 5x more on the feed for these 2 than my other 4 horses combined I will never regret the decision to take Elmo in when no one else wanted him.
